What struck me first about tonight's DailySing was the smoothness of the transitions from one idea to another. I always expect them to be tight, but tonight they felt inspired.
The second thing that struck about tonight's session was the arc of the improv. There was a beginning, middle, and end with several bridges and side trips into various modes of improvisation. The rhythmic application of non percussive vocal sounds, the beat established by the use of my hands drumming on my chest even while I sing long slow melodic lines, the jazz bass lines, the nod to classical operatic Western music, the falsetto solos, the constant leaps between bass lines at the lower limit of my range and that rarified space at the limits of my falsetto to create a fuller sounding groove, and of course the straight up vocal drum/percussion solos to break things up a bit further. To listen to DailySing - 111, click here.
